The eyesore that the abandoned Church building located on the corner of Sixth Avenue and 20th Street is about to get a new lease on life (no pun intended) as the owners of the space are going to turn this edifice into a shopping bazaar, reminiscent of the Holiday Market that is held inside Grand Central Terminal. The building has undergone a bizarre reincarnation from an Episcopal Church, to a famous gay nightclub named
The Limelight (which was featured in the film
Party Monster, and would lead to the rise of the famed "Club Kids",) to a regular nightclub named Avalon that shut down in 2007. The question is, how well is this experiment in retail going to work?
